Daughters of the Moon is an audiovisual portrait of the customs and ways of life of the Warao Indians who have inhabited for several millenia the Orinoco Delta in Venezuela.
The camera acts as an invisible witness that based on the research of the Venezuelan anthropologists Cecilia Ayala Lafee and Werner Wilbert has been able to capture in detail a unique audiovisual document of great cultural value about this ethnic group.
Ankalli and his wife Kori can no longer survive on what their small parcel of land can produce. Ankalli decides to go look for work in the south, where he believes there are opportunities. He crosses valleys, rivers, and mountains until he finds work with a salt processor.
The Wichi, which in their lovely language means “people”, are a spiritual ethnical group. And they are also the Tayhilhelei, the children of the jungle.
